Okay...again...I know it has been a long while. Life just has a way of taking over and burning the candle at 4 ends is what I've been doing as of late. Between LISHA, Merrick Kiwanis, Karate and work, I have been especially busy. I am proud to report that my Kiwanis Club donated food to 30 families in need and provided toys to nearly 60 kids. We also did our annual gift wrapping at Roosevelt Field. Due to the corporate sponsorship of Volvo (not that we had a choice) we will have raised a little over $30,000!!! That will allow us to do a whole lot of stuff for our community. I am proud of my club. With my professional association, I have secured the final 2 speakers for our Fall Conference and it isn't even January 1 yet. This week, we go to talk to Leonard's about the things that need to change for this upcoming year. I need to do a little prep work in order to be ready for that meeting.
Karate has been going well. I train between 2-5 hours a week depending upon my schedule. I am happy because Sensei is teaching more of the classes and I like his style of teaching. We've also talked about nutritional stuff and I am awaiting my shipment of supplements and custom made shakes. I am hoping to be able to knock the 30 pounds off by the summer. A big goal but between training and maybe actually getting back on the exercise bike here in the apartment, I should be able to do it.
So, that's the little update.
Today, I took myself to a movie in the middle of the day. I saw Rocky Balboa. I enjoyed the movie. There were times when I was crying and times when I cheered. I am a fan of fighting, what I can I say. The story really touched home for me about getting up and fighting the fight. The whole non-quitting spirit thing. It was certainly better than the last Rocky movie and I am glad that this one was made. The saga ends on a much better note this way. I am going to try and get to see at least one more movie during this break.
