Decisions...

The Kiwanis International Convention was great! I got to see some old friends...experience a great convention...hang out with New Yorkers and ride a bull!

I returned home from the convention to go to work on Monday and find out that my director was leaving, having accepted a position in another district. This means that there will be changes in the special education administrators in my district. What a decision I had to make - did I want to submit for the Director position or just the supervisor position...this is something I was pondering as I headed off to Pittsburgh for the ASHA Schools 2007 Conference where I was a presenter.

At ASHA Schools 2007, I was there with someone from LISHA. It made it nice because there was someone to go to dinner with each night and someone that I hung out with during sessions, in the exhibit hall, etc. Sunday morning, I did a poster session presentation on the staff inservice that my colleague and I developed to explain our role in the schools. It went over really well. People were very interested in the presentation and I have about 4 pages of email addresses to send it out to since I ran out of my handouts.

I have submitted my application for Supervisor of Special Education and am trying to submit for Director of PPS but there was a little glitch in the computer system. I have e-mailed the Assistant Superintendent asking for assistance in what to do in order to get that one filed as well. I figure, and others have told me, I have everything to gain and nothing to lose by applying for the positions.
