I went with mom opening night to see Hairspray - the Movie. I have always loved the Hairspray story and this was no exception. they did a great job with the movie. The new songs are great and the slight changes to the plot were acceptable as well. The cameo appearances were noted by some and see to see John Travolta dressed as a female was interesting. Definitely something I would recommend to others.
The book review is the 7th installment of Harry Potter. While slightly annoyed with UPS since they wouldn't leave it on the Saturday since no one was home and the doorman wasn't on duty yet, I got the book Monday night and read it as much as possible over the next 3 days. What an amazing story. I wasn't disappointed at all. Rowlings kept readers in suspense until almost the very end about whether Harry would live or die (no, I am not going to spoil it here). It was very interesting to learn some of the background of Dumbledore and the other characters. I found it a very quick read and one that I couldn't put down. I highly recommend the series to others if you haven't already read them.
